Long term for supply needs would be considered to be five or more years. Long term supply needs encapsulates both water security and food security. Both water and food security require good stewardship of the land. Proper land care is at the center of sustainable agriculture.

Your supply needs need to be considered according to the timeframe you have before you reach “crisis point”. A slow moving problem (e.g. peak oil) gives you time to prepare a long term solution. An immediate problem (e.g. large scale industrial action) may require a more immediate solution.
